Hellebores in a bowl
Hellebores in a bowl
This embellished egg features a classic composition of hellebores arranged in a pearlescent white bowl. Since this flower comes in so many wonderful patterns and colours, a selection of blooms are portrayed here: some are soft white with wine coloured freckles, others are a deep maroon or a softer blend of pinks and pale greens.
The blooms are then accented by the plant’s signature evergreen leaves and are displayed on a handpainted solid wood egg.
The flowers and leaves have been carefully sculpted using the finest quality Japanese air dry clay, and are then handpainted individually using artist’s grade acrylic and gouache paints.
The scene is then created by arranging the clay components and bonding them one at a time to the egg.
The egg has been painted by hand in a gentle shade of grey with a hint of lavender (Dove Tale by Farrow and Ball). No detail being left unappreciated, the egg also features an extra special detail: a delicate layer of speckles are flecked about the egg’s painted shell, enhancing the realism and delight of this celebration of spring!
Egg has a flat bottom for ease of display. Also comes with a solid wood stand, stained and varnished in a rich shade of walnut and trimmed with gold foil paper embellishments from Germany. Sealed with an archival acrylic varnish.
