Custom order FAQs

What’s it like to work with you?

What will my Piece look like?

Once you’ve completed your request form, I read it carefully and will often sit with it for a day or two to let the ideas come. From the information you give me, I pick out connecting themes to determine composition, colour and size. I will then sketch out a few options, sending you a description of the one I feel is the most compelling. I will also send you relevant information pulled from other flower languages, historical meanings and mythologies that are connected thematically to your own story, making it feel connected to something bigger. But ultimately the piece is about you, my job is just to make it!

Size, colour and composition varies from piece to piece, depending on the level of complexity to your story, and what you imagine its purpose to be. Freestanding pieces can be displayed under a glass dome, or shown on their own. Wall hangings can be any size, but will typically be shown on a round, oval or rectangular display plaque. I have also created wreaths, hair crowns and elements for boutonnières too! We can work together to find what feels right for you.

Can I request a flower I haven’t seen you make before?

Is there a limit to how many flowers I can include, or how many pieces I can order?

How long will it take?

HOw much will it cost?

Absolutely! Custom work is where I get to experiment with new techniques, and there really isn’t anything I won’t try! If it’s a flower I’m unfamiliar with I will research reference materials like images or books, or see if I can find a model at a local flower shop or museum too.

Not at all. Collections of custom work are a beautiful way to connect various moments and themes together. If many elements are requested, I will sometimes suggest that they could be shown across multiple pieces to keep your piece from feeling overcrowded.

Custom work is fit into an overall production schedule, and can take anywhere from 3-8 weeks from the time you’ve placed your order. Rush orders typically can’t be accommodated, but please feel free to check first — schedules change all the time! Shipping can then take up to an additional week, depending on its destination. Rush shipping can be added for an additional fee.

Price varies from piece to piece, but botanical elements have a minimum cost per piece. Some components aren’t as complex to create as others, leaving some flexibility if you have a budget in mind. This means that a custom piece with two flowers would be a different price than a custom piece with one flower and one butterfly. The cost of your piece will be shared with you along with your piece’s description, but as the work is completely custom, the price will be higher than a piece from the perennial collection. Shipping and any applicable taxes will be in addition to the cost of your piece.
